About The Author

Since graduating with a bachelors of music degree I've been composing, performing and teaching children of all ages for 20+ years.

One Autumn day we were singing fall and Halloween-themed songs.  One of the songs ended with the word "BOO!".  I noticed one of the younger students jumped in fear.  I was concerned because it wasn't my intention to scare the kids, so I checked in to see how he was feeling and asked, "Oh, I'm so sorry, did I scare you?"  I asked.  "No!" he replied confidently.  "You didn't scare me.  You scared my bear!"  I was intrigued with how he used his teddy bear to defer the feelings of fear, and in doing so was able to remain feeling confident and secure.  And so the heart of the story was born!
